Everytime one of my kids has a birthday, the family knows to leave me alone in the kitchen the morning of the party. And I tease that birthday cakes is how I earn my Mom Merit Badge. I love doing it. My aunt Pat, who has done cakes professionally for as long as I can remember, taught me when I was very young. I have great memories of being in her kitchen and making the old Barbie cake (you remember the ones, where the cake is the skirt of her dress). Anyway, so everyone can be impressed, I am including as many of the birthday cakes as I can find pictures for (OK, so I conveniently found all of them). Enjoy! I sure did. :)
OK, so it was his first birthday. It had been a long time since I had done anything like this.
Samuel's 2nd birthday. A step up.
Samuel's 3rd birthday. A highway with all kinds of cars.
One of my favorites. Notice the popcorn smoke coming out of the engine. This was Samuel's 4th birthday.
His 5th birthday was at a skating rink. Hence, the skates.
For his 6th, he wanted a "Balloon Party" (see blog in the Dec. archive). It didn't leave me much choice for the cake, so I had to make up for it with the following.
Each child had their own balloon cookie. :)
Jeremiah's 1st birthday. This was before Samuel's balloon party. But it would have worked well for that as well.
This is my favorite so far. This was last week, Jeremiah's 2nd.

Ok, you have bragging rights for these! They are AWESOME! I only wish I could do that. Jayden's first b-day cake was made by me, and it stuck to the pan when I was getting it out. Yeah, it was a mud pile cake. So creative. One year I do plan on making him a firetruck cake. I have a recipe complete with diagrams on how to make it. I'll have to practice first!
Nice, I was just thinking that I had seen another picture of a cake you made and was impressed. I like to see your accomplishments! I finally posted on my blog. I'll post another in a moment.
I'm sooooo impressed! Brenda
and I am very impressed also and glad you got all those creative juices from your aunt Pat. Definitely not from me!! You did good, girl!!
love you,
mom
