Sept. 30: David's company, Atmos Energy, hosted a tailgate party for the A&M/Tech game. The boys were at Jerry & Ann's all day. David & I left the house at 9am, ran errands for the tailgate and then spent the rest of the day on campus. They rented a big screen tv and a satellite system. So although we were 100 yards from the game, we got to watch it on tv. The funny part about that is that we would hear the celebration for a touchdown, while the on the tv, they hadn't snapped the ball yet. (Thank you Janet Jackson for the 5 second TV delay). Unfortunately we lost that game in the last minute. Ugh!!!
Oct. 7: Kristi (David's sister) came in town from Austin so we could celebrate her birthday. Samuel had worked really hard that week to learn how to play Happy Birthday on the piano (he has since played it at least 5 times a day -- never knew I could get tired of Happy Birthday). We had lunch at the Parks which was a lot of fun.
(Samuel was so excited about playing Happy Birthday for Aunt Kristi, especially since it's her piano at our house that he's learning to play on)That night, I hosted a slumber party for the girls in our ComGroup at my house. We had a blast. David offered to set up the ping pong table for us to use. I (as well as all the girls) laughed at him. What did we need with ping pong when we could talk all night. Which we did. I think we finally went to bed at 1am and then got up at 8 and started again. It was so much fun to get to know each other better. David & the boys had a sleepover at the Parks house.
Oct. 12: Mom, Dad & Sara came into town. Sara is home from Mexico on furlough and she arrived in DFW on the 10th. They came down for Samuel's soccer game on Saturday. It was fun to see Sara again and to spend time with Mom & Dad. The three girls all went and got our hair cut on Friday. Dad & David got in a bike ride (their tradition). And Samuel scored 3 goals in his soccer game (his first goals of the season). And the Aggies beat Missouri. All in all it was a great weekend!
Then, to top it off, our ComGroup had a retreat Saturday night after Mom & Dad left. We went to the lake house of the parents of one of the guys in our group. It was fun to be together away from B/CS. We had a blast. The favorite part was playing 99 -- so much fun!
This past Tuesday was my birthday, and my sweet sister surprised me and drove down from FW (in her new car, I might add). I was at the mall and she met me in the parking lot. I was very surprised! We had a blast for 3 days. We shopped, ate good food, laughed, watched a movie, as well as a Top Chef marathon. It was so fun and never long enough.
I promise to not wait so long next time.
